Mission
Family Life Church desires all to experience the love of Jesus in a church family, where the broken are healed and the fallen receive grace. We seek to equip members to share the Good News of Jesus with the world.
A Foursquare Church
Family Life Church is associated with the Foursquare Denomination. Foursquare was founded in 1922 by evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson. Family Life Church (also known as the Waukegan Foursquare Church) was founded in the late 1920s, following one of McPherson”s Chicago-area evangelistic campaigns.
Watch Your Life & Doctrine Closely
The Apostle Paul once wrote these words. To have an outward display of Christianity but have wrong doctrine is as inadequate as to have the right doctrine, but not be living it. In the Foursquare Church we stress both. Our doctrine comes from the Bible. We believe that God the Holy Spirit inspired the Bible to be written as He moved upon His prophets. Since the Holy Spirit inspired it, the Bible is trustworthy and true in all it says. The Foursquare Church emphasizes four main ministries of Jesus Christ.
The Four Main Ministries of Jesus
#1 Jesus is the Savior
“I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
#2 Jesus is the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
#3 Jesus is the Healer
“Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil, in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” (James 5:14-16)
#4 Jesus is the returning King
“For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
